ALGÉRIE/POLITIQUE: Grande Mosquée d’Alger : la Chine annonce la fin des travaux qui ont coûté 2 milliards de dollars
Le projet de construction de la Grande Mosquée d’Alger a été finalisé, rapporte ce lundi la chaîne de télévision étatique anglophone chinoise CGTN. Le coût total de la construction de la Grande Mosquée est estimé à deux milliards de dollars, précise la même source.
La Grande Mosquée d’Alger devient ainsi la troisième plus grande mosquée du monde en termes de superficie. Avec 400 000 m², la Grande Mosquée d’Alger est seulement dépassée en superficie par la Grande Mosquée du Sultan Qabus à Muscat (sultanat d’Oman) et surtout le Mausolée de l’imam Reza à Mashhad (Iran) avec ses près de 600 000 m² de superficie.
La Grande Mosquée devient ainsi la plus grande mosquée d’Afrique, délogeant la Mosquée Hassan II à Casablanca (Maroc). Alors que la capacité totale de la Grande Mosquée est de 120 000 personnes, la salle de prière de 20 000 m² peut accueillir jusqu’à 37 000 fidèles, indique le média chinois. La Grande Mosquée d’Alger dispose en outre du plus haut minaret au monde, avec une hauteur établie à 265 mètres.
La construction du projet a été confiée à l’entreprise étatique chinoise CSCEC, qui affirme avoir déployé 2300 ingénieurs, responsables de construction et travailleurs en provenance de Chine, d’Algérie et « d’autres pays africains », rapporte la même source, qui affirme que la Grande Mosquée a été conçue pour résister à un séisme de magnitude 9 sur l’échelle de Richter.
CGTN affirme par ailleurs que « le projet a été achevé dans les délais impartis malgré des difficultés telles que la crise financière qui a frappé l’Algérie ces dernières années ». Cependant, pour rappel, le projet de construction de la Grande Mosquée a débuté en 2012 et devait initialement durer 42 mois, soit jusqu’à octobre 2015.
