Pierre Audin, fils du militant de la cause algérienne Maurice Audin, est décédé dimanche à Paris à l’âge de 66 ans des suites d’une maladie, a-t-on appris auprès de ses proches.
Professeur de mathématiques, le défunt avait à peine un mois lorsque son père a été arrêté en 1957 à Alger puis exécuté par les forces coloniales françaises pour son soutien à la Révolution algérienne.
Pierre Audin, qui était responsable au sein de l’Association Josette et Maurice Audin, avait assisté en juin 2022 à l’inauguration du buste de son père à la Place Audin à Alger, et ce à la veille de la commémoration du 65ème anniversaire de sa tragique disparition.
Le fils du militant de la cause algérienne avait exprimé sa fierté de se retrouver sur cette place qui porte le nom de son père, fervent défenseur de la cause algérienne.
Il avait été reçu en mai de la même année par le ministre de l’Enseignement supérieur et de la Recherche scientifique dans le cadre de l’encouragement du partenariat entre les établissements de recherche scientifique et l’Association Josette et Maurice Audin.
Le défunt avait, de son vivant, plaidé en faveur de la pérennisation du Prix de mathématiques Maurice-Audin attribué, en même temps, à deux chercheurs, (un algérien et un français) activant dans le domaine.
